Discard is based right here in Midtown, so a job here is usually a few blocks' drive for us. Since early 2024 we've finished 20 jobs in 95811 and 38 in 95814, which takes in Downtown and the west side of Midtown.
Midtown jobs are their own thing. A lot of people live in older houses that were split into apartments, or in walk-ups with no elevator, so most of the work is carrying things down a flight or two. Parking is usually on the street or in the alley, and we plan the truck around that. If there's a driveway, a loading zone or a back gate we can use, tell us when you book and we'll come in that way.
Most of what we haul here is furniture from people moving in, moving out or downsizing. Beds and box springs, loveseats, futons, dining sets, desks. We also get the odd one-off, like old lumber from a skate ramp or a commercial fridge.
Downtown has more office work. We've cleared out cubicles, desks and whole offices, usually after a walk-through first so the quote is right.
